Will SEO work for my practice?                                               [back]
How do I know I will receive traffic to my website?

It all depends on whether or not people are looking for you in the search engines. How can we tell? By searching through the keyword traffic databases, we can discover all the keyword combinations people are typing into the search engines when looking for your business. The keyword traffic databases will also tell us which keywords are popular and which keywords are not. Therefore, we can pin-point the exact keywords that are driving the most traffic in the search engines. We will optimize your website for those keywords to ensure you get the most visitors possible.

Selecting the right keywords for your website is CRUCIAL to the success of your SEO campaign. Please read below to learn more about choosing the right keywords for your website.

Understanding Keyword Research

THE PROBLEM:
How do we determine the good keywords (the ones generating the most traffic) from the bad keywords (the ones that generate the least traffic)?

Example #1: “Boston plastic surgery” verses “Boston face lift”

Although these keyword phrases are very relevant search terms for a plastic surgeon in Boston, they do not carry the same weight. Why? Because, according to search statistics taken from the top 10 search engines:

“Boston plastic surgery” is forecasted to receive 210 queries next month, whereas,
“Boston face lift” is forecasted to receive 0 (zero) queries next month! ***

Other keywords with very few predicted queries are “Boston rhinoplasty” and “Boston liposuction”.

Example #2: "Beverly Hills face lift" verses "face lift Beverly Hills"

Although these phrases contain the exact same keywords, they do not carry the same weight. Why? Because:

“Beverly Hills face lift” is forecasted to receive 1290 queries next month, and
“face lift Beverly Hills” is forecasted to receive only 450 queries.

These figures tell us that more customers are typing in the keyword combination "Beverly Hills face lift". This may seem like a small, insignificant factor, but it can make all the difference to the amount of traffic you receive from a Search Engine Optimization campaign.

Other examples like this are:

“Orange County plastic surgery” is forecasted to receive 840 queries next month
“plastic surgery Orange County” is forecasted to receive 150 queries next month

“Beverly Hills botox” is forecasted to receive 2040 queries next month
“botox Beverly Hills” is forecasted to receive 450 queries next month

Example #3: Beverly Hills specific keywords verses Orange County specific keywords

Demographics can reveal stronger keyword markets from weaker keyword markets. When comparing forecasted traffic for regionally specific keywords, it becomes very obvious that Beverly Hills is a much stronger market than Orange County or Newport Beach, as shown below:

beverly hills plastic surgery 2730        beverly hills plastic surgeon 1890       beverly hills botox 2040
orange county plastic surgery 840      orange county plastic surgeon 1200    orange county botox 1410
newport beach plastic surgery 210      newport beach plastic surgeon 60       newport beach botox 90

SOLUTION: Relevant keywords are not enough! Your keywords have to be researched thoroughly to make sure you select the keywords and keyword phrases your customers are using when searching online. To generate the most amount of targeted customers to your web site, we must select keywords that are driving the most amount of traffic. Effective keyword research is the foundation for a successful search engine optimization program.

*** Note: All figures above are taken from statistics reported from SEO industry standard keyword research tools. All numeric predictions are based on data from previous months’ search trends in the top 10 major search engines.
